CASE STUDY: ST ANSELM’S CHURCH, HAYES
Client: London Borough of Hillingdon

Rubicon Regeneration was commissioned by the London Borough of Hillingdon to assess the feasibility of re-configuring the interior of St Anslem’s Church, Hayes to provide space and office accommodation for a range of community and voluntary groups active in the town.

The study involved assessing the context and establishing interest in the project, specifically from stakeholders and potential users, reviewing the condition and capacity of the building and assessing alternative options in the town.

The study concluded that the Church could re-position itself as a focal point to support the growth of the community and voluntary sector in Hayes. Various design and development ideas, with costings, were prepared, which were presented at various visioning events for consideration by church representatives and the local community.

The biggest issue against development is the costs involved in refurbishing the interior of the church together with the need to retain part of the building as a place of worship.
